A Letter from our organizers:
Baltimore Palestine Solidarity is excited to be holding a special series of events in partnership with several other Baltimore area organizations. The three events, collectively entitled “Not a Film Fest: Anticolonial Conversation in Baltimore”, will begin on Sunday, October 20th, 2019 and end on Sunday, November 10th, 2019. These events will connect the Palestinian struggle for liberation with the parallel struggles for Native, Indigenous, Black, and Latinx liberation. The films that will anchor the community discussions include two Baltimore premiers: Between Two Crossings, directed by Yasser Murtaja, a photojournalist who was shot and killed while covering The Great March of Return in Gaza, Palestine; and The Feeling of Being Watched, which reveals the long history of FBI surveillance of the Bridgeview Muslim community in Chicago.
In order to encourage full participation of the community, all events will be free of charge. The estimated cost of the Not a Film Fest (NFF) is $5,512, and so far a $2,500 grant from the Research Associates Foundation and an additional $872 from the NFF Organizing Committee has been raised to cover this amount. We are looking to raise the remaining $2,140, which will help bring wonderful moderators to lead the post-film discussions, as well as food for each event from local Black, brown, and immigrant-owned businesses. Any amount helps, and all donations will receive recognition on our website and program. With a donation of at least $250, you can sponsor one of the films. With a donation of $1,000, you can sponsor one of the events.
Hope to see you at one or all of our events!
